Welcome

Thank you for visiting the Gellert Center for Education

This area of our site is currently under construction.

The New Mexico Holocaust & Intolerance Museum (NMHIM) and our Gellert Center for Education are committed to using Holocaust education as the foundation for building understanding about human rights and social justice issues and creating empathy for those impacted by these issues.

We encourage each and every student to become an upstander, a person who speaks or acts in support of an individual or cause, particularly someone who intervenes on behalf of a person being attacked or bullied.

Our education programs have been recognized by the US Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC, and we are proud to be designated the only CHEC (Community of Holocaust Education Centers) partner in New Mexico.

Our site is divided into seven sections, all available at no cost to education professionals in New Mexico:

Foundations and Guidelines
Lessons for Upper Elementary, Middle School and High School Students
Arts Integration
Social Justice and Human Rights
Professional Development Opportunities
